Wanted: New Foot and New Doctor

Well, I defintiely need a new foot. Almost a month ago, I walked from my place to my mechanics - King Performance - behind Home Hardware. Really not that far. And all of it downhill. That night, I thought I was going to cry! My left heel was killing me. The bottom, flat portion of my heel is sooooo sore to this day. Some days are better than others. Ibuprofen does seem to help a bit, but isn't 100%.

So after a few days, I decided to check out the "symptoms" on webMD. From what I read, it's probably Plantar fasciitis. Basically, it's a strain to the plantar fascia, the ligament that connects the heel bone to the toes. Something as simple as walking can strain it. Specially if you are overweight. However, you have to have an x-ray to rule out a stress fracture to the heel bones. Fun, fun!

Last week, I had basically come the end of my rope with the foot pain. I decided to call my doctor to make an appointment. Now, I know I've bitched about my doctor in the past - my "new" one - who took over the practice. It takes forever to get through on the phone just to make an appointment. Then it's weeks before you can get in. So last Monday, I called. I got a message saying that they would be in the office from 9-4 but would only be taking calls between 11-12 and 1-3. Tried repeatedly all day long to get through. It always went to message manager with that message. Tuesday, I call. And I get a message that they are out for the next two days. GREAT!! Ok, fine. I wait till Thursday and call. I get a message again. THEY ARE OUT FOR THE FORESEEABLE FUTURE! WTF!!!!!

I found out why on Tuesday. While we were at the house after the burial ceremony, I was talking to my aunt who works for NB Healthcare ... guess what?!?!?! My doctor has been suspended by the College of Physicians!

So now, I not ONLY need a new foot, I need a new doctor to give it to me!!!

Stephen King's The Mist

Anyone seen this baby? Did you like it?

If you did, I seriously have to wonder about your mental state.

I PVR'd it last night so I could watch it today sans ads. Now I sit here contemplating how I can make Stephen King give me back those two hours!

Now I will admit that I am not the biggest Stephen King fan. I don't read his novels and I never will. I have no intention of having to keep a copy of The Shining in my freezer. However, movies are another matter. I like most of his work. In fact, It is one of my fave "scary" movies - hello! it features clowns! Who wouldn't find that scary? Pet Cemetary? One of the most memorable movies from high school (I think I still have scars on my forearm from Teena's nails). Maximum Overdrive. Christine. The Dead Zone. Carrie. Firestarter. Children of the Corn. Sleepwalkers. Misery. Dolores Claiborne. Cat's Eye. Cujo. And the list goes on and on!

And let's not forget the other works, like The Shawshank Redemption and The Green Mile. They were excellent commentaries on the human condition.

The Mist, while most would say falls under the "scary" genre, actually is more about the negative aspects of people in crisis. It's depressing beyond belief! At least there was light at the end of the tunnel with The Shawshank Redemption and The Green Mile! The Mist focuses entirely on how a group of people can spiral so quickly into basic animal behaviour.

If I can do anyone a favour, it is this: Do not watch this movie unless you want to lose faith in human kind.
