The Hurt Locker

Ok, so I watched this movie last night.

Most people who know me, know that I love war movies. But this movie? Well.

It was something.

Yes, it was good overall. It was great at depicting the life in Iraq. But it was not the greatest when it came to the characters . It seemed like a lot of characters were thrown in just to fill up time. The only real character development was for the lead actor, who was essentially an anti-hero. There was minor development for the two "supporting" members of his team, but it was truly only minor.

I guess I am one of the few out there that isn't infatuated with this movie. I daresay I am in the minority when I state - not as Oscar-worthy as it's been made out to be. That's not to say that the actors didn't do a tremendous job with what they had. They did. I do enjoy Jeremy Renner's work - and perhaps his work in this film is the only one that deserved any Oscar attention or a win.

Let me leave you with this: at one point in the movie, these guys were kicking the crap out of each other for shits and giggles and it just proves the point - boys aren't just dumb; they're downright idiotic.
