I AM ....

... ON VACATION!!!!!!!!!

Wahoo!!!!!!

This is great! I mean, really, I don't take a lot of vacation time. Or sick time for that matter. I MIGHT take a week and a half in the whole year. And they always happen around holidays. Mainly because most of my kids parents are govy or govy affiliated so they have good holiday time and I try to work with their schedules.

So, since Livy is in Newfoundland until the 6th, Jessica and Emily are in PEI until the 1st ... I decided to take the 29th and 30th off to go along with Canada Day! So I have almost a whole week off!

Today Mum and I drove down to Mill Cove with the dogs to make a delivery for Ross Drug, then on the way back we stopped at some of the country stores on the old highway ... I actually scored a Christmas present for someone! Imagine!!! Lots of baked goods at the Country Pumpkin .... oh, Spoonbread, you will soon be relocating to my belly. And then my hips. But I will enjoy you anyway!

I had an Avalon appointment Thursday night ... thought it was just waxing ... which I was in desparate need of ... but surprisingly, I also had a hair appointment. Got the hairs cut again. Slightly different style from last time. Darcy styled it all beautifully ... and it did stay well for two days ... but it also had a ton of product in it. I am NOT a product girl. I like a few specific things - like my Aveda Hair Smoothing Serum (oil) - it really works to cut the frizzies. But with this humid weather we have been having, even the serum isn't working its best. So I decided to work with the weather ... enough of trying to straighten my hair for right now, I am going to go with the curl! So I picked up the John Frieda Frizz-Ease Curl enhancer stuff Thursday night. I just tried it today and it actually works pretty well. And it's a lot cheaper than the Aveda Curl stuff ... so for the time being, I will be curly head.

I acctually scrapbooked last night. Got two LOs done ... I will have to post them tomorrow. I am hoping to get at another LO this afternoon/evening. Itching to use all my new MME stuff! It's so purty!

I think my vacay will consist of a lot of scrapbooking, some visiting with my Grammy, and maybe a trip to Calais Monday or Tuesday afternoon. Ahhh .... gotta love it!

A Little Of Good This, A Little Of Bad That

So life has just been shitty the past two weeks.

My Grammy is in the hospital. They still have no clue what's wrong. But on the upside, she may be discharged tomorrow.

My cold is almost done. Just a little bit of a cough left. I should be healthy enough by the weekend to visit with my Grammy.

Lauren's last day is tomorrow. This is a huge deal. I have been taking care of her since she was 9 months. She's now two months shy of 4 years. She can make me want to tear my hair out at times, but I am going to miss the doodle like you wouldn't believe.

I interviewed another prospective child this week. He's a cutie. He would totally fit in. Jack had a good time with him. It was all good. Unfortunately it precipitated a problem - now with the department shuffles in the government, one of my "parents" works for the department that oversees childcare ... I would be over my limit of the under 2 crowd if I took this little boy.

Now that this "parent" works for this department, I am worried that I will have to constantly be worried that he's going to be looking over my shoulder, waiting for me to mess up. Do I really need this stress?

Flo arrived and my right temple wants to explode. The only consolation I have is that it should pass by tonight.

I was going to make a trip down to NH for the weekend. But now with the potential loss of more than one full time child this summer, I am putting it off. Need to conserve those $$. Oh well, maybe I will pop over to Calais for an afternoon this weekend. Not as great at NH, but I can at least pick up a few groceries.

I am off next Monday and Tuesday if anyone wants to do lunch?

The Little Buggers Got Me

I held out a week and a half. But finally, Saturday morning, I succumbed to the germs that Jessica and Emily brought back from NS. I was the last one to get sick ... all the other kids caught it fairly quickly. Even my mother got sick before me. I thought for sure that I wouldn't get sick this time. But I guess with the stress of last week, I couldn't fight it off any longer. The cold's not too bad. I think I'm not near as sick as the rugrats were/are. Another couple of days and I should be fine.

Unfortunately, that means I cannot visit my grandmother in the hospital until I am better.

Some of you know, but I haven't really posted anything about it. My Grammy was taken to hospital Tuesday morning last week because she lost conciousness in the bathroom. It was touch and go for a while that morning as her heart stopped a couple of times. Anyway, she's doing a bit better now. The doctor is doing tests as he suspects she may either need a pacemaker or she may be having seizures that are affecting the way her heart works. They just aren't sure at the moment.

I will be honest ... my Grammy has been taken to hospital several times in the past few years. Every one of those times I knew she was going to be ok. I just felt it. This time was different. I was terrified Tuesday. I was sure she wasn't going to make it. Even now, almost a week later, I am unsure about the outcome. I still have a bad feeling.

So now I am just hoping that I will be better in the next couple of days so I can get back down to visit with my grandmother. She means the world to me. She is my second mother.
