Utter Rejection ...

... of my truck, that is.

My MVI was due this month, but I kept forgetting to get it done. Finally remembered yesterday and made an appointment for today.

The good news is that there are only a couple of things that need to be repaired .... light changes for the front blinkers and the sway bar links.

The bad news is that my mechanic was so backed up today that he didn't think he would have time to get it done. Hence the big, ugly, orange sticker on my windsheild.

In all seriousness, he did ask me if I would mind the rejection, but I am totally fine with it.

I can wait til Tuesday for my pretty new sticker.

'Nother Mac 'n' Cheese

Tonight we tried another Rachael Ray recipe: Artichoke and Spinach Mac'n'Cheese. Like the Cheddar Pimento Cheese Ball that she married with mac'n'cheese to make Pimento Mac'n'Cheese , RR has married Artichoke Spinach Dip with mac'n'cheese.

It was interesting to make ... it didn't take long and one of the tips was a great time saver. This recipe uses a 10 oz package of frozen artichokes and a 10 oz package of frozen spinach. Here in Freddy, I haven't found frozen artichokes ... only the canned variety which is just fine. The frozen spinach is everywhere ... buying it frozen and chopped saves time ... as does this other RR tip.

After you have thawed the spinach, it is super wet, right? You need to actually squeeze out the water ... soooo take a clean dry tea towel, place the spinach in the center, gather up the edges and twist the towel while squeezing the spinach. Quick, easy and very little mess to removing the excess water from your thawed spinach. Takes 10 seconds!

So back to the recipe ... I would give this one a 3-3/4 out of 5 stars. It was realllllly good. I made one small change in the recipe ... it calls for Fontina cheese, but I actually like the flavour of Asiago with artichokes so I used the Asiago. Yummers! Turned out great!

'Nother great mac'n'cheese.

Snow Brings Out the Worst

Kinda funny. There was an article in the paper today about snow related road rage and neighbours complaining about each other. For the full article, go here:

It's kind of timely, since we were "accosted" by a neighbour this morning while Jack was being dropped off.

Both Mum and I went out this morning to clean up the HUGE mess at the end of the driveway that the plow so generously gave us. We were almost finished when it happened. Our snowbanks are so high in the driveway, there's just no place to put it. So we pushed what the plow put in the driveway into the snowbank directly across the street or further along our own front yard snow bank. I am not particularly happy about this, but we just have no where to put it. This isn't unusual on our street right now, because as I said, there's NO PLACE TO PUT IT! Even our neighbour to the left had to do it this morning as his snowblower is out of commission and his banks are even higher than ours.

So, we're almost finished, Erica has arrived to drop Jack off when all of a sudden the neighbour up and across the street decides to bitch at us that by us pushing the snow into their front yard snow bank, the plow then pushes it into their driveway.

I might have been a little more receptive to this if she hadn't done it in such a bitchy manner. But the way she acted simply put my back up and, amazingly, my mild-mannered mother's. My mother, who doesn't say boo to anyone, immediately asked my neighbour where we should put it? Because the banks along our driveway are simply to high to be able to throw it there now. So where?

My neighbour kept saying it was going into her driveway and she had to shovel it out now. Boo fucking hoo. Once again, might have been sympathetic if this hadn't been the FIRST time I've seen her shovel ALL WINTER. So far, every storm has seen their driveway plowed out by someone with a front mount plow on their truck or snowblowed by the guy two houses up from us. Including yesterday ... when we were shovelling almost four hours while the neighbour two houses up snowblowed the bitchy neighbour's driveway clean.

Mum was so pissed off that she went over and talked to our neighbour a few minutes later saying she didn't appreciate being spoken to that way. We had no place to put it but in the snowbanks on the street. Our neighbour suggested that we move it into our backyard. Ummmm .. that might work if our backyard wasn't already filled from previous snowstorms.

She also bitched that she was late for an appointment, that she was supposed to be there now. Now being 7:45 in the morning. Ok .... well, why haven't you started your car yet? And knowing that the plow was going to come by overnight, that there would be snow in your driveway that needed to be cleared, why didn't you get up any earlier to clean it out, knowing you had said important appointment. BECAUSE YOU'RE FULL OF SHIT BITCH!

You know what? I don't like that the snow my neighbour puts in his snowbank is going to be pushed into my driveway by the plow. But that's how it goes. Suck it up buttercup! This is Canada! And it snows here! A fucking lot!

You know what else? There's been a lot of fucking snow this winter. We're all a incredibly sick of it. We're all getting to the end of our ropes. But TRY to be a little nicer, a little more understanding, a little more courteous.

And why should we do that, particularly you, bitchy neighbour? Because the snow will eventually melt and go away. But we will still live across the street from one another.

And I have two big ass dogs who like to crap and would only be too happy to shit in your yard Biatch!!!

It's Official!

Before, I would just get annoyed. Nothing to get too bent out of shape about. But today. After what I had to do, I can truly say I am in hate with winter. Winter SUCKS!

You suck Winter!!!

This would be the lovely drift between our house and the neighbours.

I must say I was happy to see that the wind cleared all the snow away from my vehicle. This was the only good news about the whole effing thing.

4-5 foot snow drifts ... cuz Winter SUCKS!

My GD walkway was FILLED with snow! And I mean filled!

Mum plugging away at the drifts.

This is only the first time the plow came by. The second trip dumped almost another foot on top of that.

Light at the end of the tunnel.

Super pooped.

And that folks is the driveway from hell. Totally shovelled out by hand! No snowblower, no scoop. All by small shovels and broken backs. In 3-1/2 hours.
