Dinosaur Uproar For My Boy

I originally planned to make a double-sided quilt for Xander, but then got to thinking that if it got dirty, it would be far more practical for Anita to have a second one available while the first was being washed. Hence, two quilts. Most of the fabric is Dinosaur Uproar by Moda. I LOVE Moda fabrics. They are gorgeous ... and most of them can come pre-cut.

The first quilt I made was the Dino Square.

Second quilt I made was the Bed Bug quilt.

This is the backing for the quilts ... the turquoise bee fabric is the Bed Bug quilt backing, while the royal blue with circles was the Dino Square backing. The Bed Bug quilt also has extra wide binding. I loved the striped fabric, so I wanted to showcase more of it than a regular 2-1/2" binding would do.

Mii Is Sore

Oh holy crap! Mii right arm and mii left ass cheek and hip are sore already!

Amanda and Dave got a Wii last weekend. Mum and I were invited over for dinner and Wii tonight. And it was a blast!

Mum sat and watched Amanda and I for most of the time - she said she was enjoying herself just watching us because we were so competitive. AND WE ARE!

I have never played Wii of any kind, despite the fact that both Nick and Mel have said gaming system. I would tend to shy away from it. But not now!

My sister has played every night since they got it, so she's pretty good at some of it. I never beat her when I played against her tonight, but it was damn close. The best was boxing ... NOBODY beats my sister. But I was sooooo close ... until she took me down with a throat punch ... bitch. But I am determined to beat her next time.

I bowled against both Amanda and my mother. My mother beat me!!!! She kept getting strike after strike. I will admit that I suck at bowling - virtual or reality based. I tend to spin to the left and really have to compensate for it. But my mother rocks the bowling alley!

My favorite two games were Wii Fit ski jump ... too funny ... I kept ending up as a snow ball at the end of the piste. I did finally manage to get it together and beat Amanda's scores. But I think my absolute fave was tennis! I LOVED that ... my backhand is awful, but it's improving! I hit far fewer spectators now, after 4 games. LOL. I like it so much that it actually makes me want to look into lessons this summer.

Anyway, the point of this post is that I am sore already and it's only been 30 minutes! I can only imagine what tomorrow will be like.

Fondant and Tiered Cakes

I started the third Wilton course this evening at Michaels. It was only two of us - myself and one other student. The instructor said there should have been at least another 3-4 people coming, but I guess they either decided to not take the course or just didn't want to venture out in the storm.

We learned a couple of different ruffles, which was REALLY cool. Definitely something I will be using! Tried a bead border - super easy! Then we did a technique called Brush Embroidery. I will have to give this a try sometime. It's very cute. We also did drop strings and started a fondant rose.

Next week we work more with fondant. We're actually making a Fondant Package Cake. It looks like a lot work, but fun work. I had always heard that fondant didn't taste very good, but it wasn't bad ... just like sugar. I will have to flavour it though for large quantities.

I can't wait to go to next weeks class!

New Beginnings

Today saw the trial run for my new little guy, Jack. I can already forsee myself calling him Jackie. He's actually Lauren's cousin. And the first little boy I've had in my daycare in four years. It's quite a difference. Anyway ... he officially starts next Monday, but he is here today and Thursday just to see how he adjusts.

He's doing just fine! Little munchkin is just like Lauren in the sense that he gives me the same look when I say 'no touch' (it's the look that says - yeah right, lady, I'm going to do what I damn well please). This is obviously a family trait. He's going through some wicked teething ... but he's handling that well. Figuratively and literally. He stuffs his hand in his mouth and chews.

When Alivia arrived this morning, she gave me this-get-me-the-hell-out-of-here look. She wasn't too impressed to be introduced to a new child. But she has since come around. A bit. It's going to take some time.

I would say that this year is starting off well for my business. We'll see how the next couple of months go.

INTRODUCING

Everybody, let me introduce you to Xander Hunter Thiele. This little miracle arrived at 8:02pm last night, January 3rd. He is 7 lbs, 4 oz and 20-1/4" long.

Both Xander and Anita are doing great. They gave Anita the oxytocin shortly after 3pm and five hours later he was born!

I can't wait to meet my latest little boy!
7lbs 4oz!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Last night, at around 8pm their time .... by the time Fred got to calling me, it was after midnight .... he thought it would be too late to call. Silly boy!

Neet will be calling later this afternoon with more deets!

Nothing

Still no news. Still waiting. The doctor told Neet that it could take a few days because he was going to start slowly. I just want Baby T to come soon!!! I am sooo impatient.
