The Norcotts Kennel Is Open Again!

Shortly after my father died we got Gypsy, our first Newf. Then we slowly collected cats, for a total of 6. As a joke, one of my Dad's sister's made us this sign.
Since then, we have had a variety of pets and borders. Most notably, Anita's dog Jack a couple of years ago when they moved to Victoria. Jack was with us for about 2 months. He and Sunny were the best of friends and had a blast playing every day.

This week we have another visitor with us: Lucy. Hollee's pooch is staying here with us while she and Dan are in SJ. She has settled in very well. Lucy and Sunny play together very well when they are outdoors. Inside is another matter. Lucy is very affectionate and Sunny's nose is a little out of joint that she's not getting all the attention. Lucy and Lukey are getting along extremely well ... Lukey went so far as to share his bed with Lucy a couple of times.
All things considered, Lucy's stay is going well. So you don't have to worry about her Hollee. Of course, if you just want to leave her here with me, that's fine too. Mum has fallen in love with her and has joked that we shouldn't give her back.

10 Things I Hate - Right Now

1. Effing Snow!!! For the love of all that is holy! Will it ever stop? Now, I love the snow as much as any other Canadian, seriously I do enjoy some snow, but this is freaking ridiculous! The only bright spot is the knowledge that everytime I shovel, I am getting exercise.

2. Revisionist History - that phenomenon from which many suffer. They completely twist an event in their head, rearrange facts to suit them, and actually believe it.

3. Running out of my favourite VE Milk Chocolate Chips. Damn! What am I going to do now for a fix? Eat inferior chocolate, I guess.

4. Knowing that I have friends who are struggling with heartache and there's nothing I can do.

5. My memory - I really do hate my memory ... it's amazingly like Swiss cheese. I am pretty sure Alzheimer's sufferers have better short-term memory than I do ... I completely forgot that my Emma-bug's birthday is this Friday! And I haven't sent a present. Hell, I haven't bought a present. I suck!

6.Having to go into a cold changing room after aquacise. Why do they not heat the changing rooms? It's downright nipply in there!

7. Having to go out in the cold after aquacise! It's aweful! Specially when your hair is wet because your crazy instructor had you jumping all over the place. (Not that I hate my crazy instructor - Denis rocks!)

8. Lying - this isn't just a right-now thing, it's an all-the-time thing. Don't lie to me. Tell the truth, whether it's to me or anyone else.

9. Writers Strike - I truly believe that they deserve everything they are asking for ... I believe that the strike is the only way they will have their demands met. But damn it! I am tired of reruns! I want my Grey's Anatomy, House, Chuck, Heroes, etc ... back!

10. Shovelling Snow - I know I already mentioned snow, but shovelling is a totally different area. I could put up with the flipping snow if I didn't have to shovel the jeezly stuff. And there's nothing worse than being out there, shovelling away, while all your neighbours are out snowblowing, finish and go back inside their toasty houses, never thinking to offer their help. (But I do have to say, that two neighbours[and one of them doesn't even like me] helped me out two times each, so that was a blessing.)

10 Things I Love - Right Now

1. The new Dove "Fresh" scent ... grapefruit and lemongrass. Yummy .... I am in love with my body wash and anti-perspirant now. I am now hopping between that and Dove Cool Moisture (cucumber and green tea).

2. Chocolate ... in particular, VE Milk Chocolate. It's my chocolate fix for the day. Need I say more?

3. Reading ... you should see the double stack of books beside my bed ... almost two feet high. That doesn't include the books I've loaned, either. I am really liking Sophie Kinsella, Emily Giffin and Claire Dowling. Very funny authors.

4. Hearing from my best friend ... we haven't spoken since she went back to GM ... so it's been really great to talk to her, even if it's e-mail.

5. Making my best friend laugh. Making anyone laugh, really. I never think of myself as a funny person. I can appreciate funny, but I don't think I am funny. So when I make my friends laugh, I am happy.

6. My loose clothing - LOVE it! Mum keeps complaining that I am going to have to go get new clothes. Not yet ... I want to loose more.

7. Homemade Chicken Soup ... made with VE Turkey Rub and VE Fines Herbes ... to die for! That's my lunch, everyday since Friday - two bowls a day.

8. Taking baths. I love to take baths. It's not about getting clean. It's about relaxing. Specially when you throw in a lush-ous bath bomb! And pop on the MP3 player (thanks for the tip Mel!). And read a good book, of course. LOL

9. Looking at Tracey Spencer's layouts .... I could spend hours looking at them. She's so very talented. There's never a LO I don't like or want to completely lift.

10. My friends - those wonderful friends who accept me for who I am and don't go out of their way to make me feel like crap. Those friends who understand, who can empathise. Those friends you spend the day or evening with, belly hurting from all the laughing and good food.
