Fall Premieres!!!!

Amy posted about the week of September 23rd being a very busy week for TV ... and she's right. In fact, it's busier than it's been in many years. Why? Because all the networks are premiering their shows the same week. That is actually unusual. NBC has, for the last fifteen years, started it's season at that time ... but ABC and CBS have always started the week before or after them. Also, FOX has traditionally always started it's shows two to three weeks earlier or later than NBC. Since they are all vying for our attention at the same time ... it's going to make for an interesting premier week. I am sure they will see a lot of channel hopping between 9-12pm Monday to Friday.

As most of you know, I am a die-hard TV fan .... I try to cram all the shows in for the first few weeks. Of course, I have to watch my returning faves, but that first few weeks gives me an opportunity to decide what new shows to cull out. I never judge a show by it's pilot epi; there are many shows that have a terrible pilot, only to have great subsequent episodes. I usually wait for the third or fourth epi to ditch a show. Unless it's really stinky or just not my cup of tea.

So, that being said, here's next weeks line-up:

Cold Case (CBS)
Shark (CBS)

Dancing with the Stars - Night 1 (ABC)
Prison Break (FOX)
The Big Bang Theory (CBS)
Two and a Half Men (CBS)
Heroes (NBC)
K-Ville (FOX)
CSI: Miami (CBS)
Journeyman (NBC)

Dancing with the Stars - Night 2(ABC)
House (FOX)
Cane (CBS)
Law & Order: SVU (NBC)

Dancing w/ Stars Results(ABC)
Criminal Minds (CBS)
Bionic Woman (NBC)
Private Practice (ABC)
Life (NBC)
Dirty Sexy Money (ABC)

Ugly Betty (ABC)
Grey’s Anatomy (ABC)
Big Shots (ABC)

Moonlight (CBS)

I watched the premier K-Ville Monday night ... it was good. Not fantastic. Just good. I am hoping it picks up a bit. I really want this show to succeed. While I am not a fan of FOX (understatement!), I am sincerely rooting for this show. K-Ville is about New Orleans detectives who fight everyday to help rebuild their city. The reason I am hoping this show does well is that it's shot on location in New Orleans ... it provides much needed cash flow and jobs. Not only that, it helps people across North America see the city's current state. Many people believe that New Orleans is doing just fine, that it's almost back to normal, when that is far from true.

Tonight Back To You premiers with Kelsey Grammar and Patricia Heaton ... I love anything Kelsey Grammar is in - he's hilarious. I hope the show lives up to it's ads.

So that's it ... word of warning for next week. Do not call me after 9pm! Unless it's an emergency. And then, only on an ad! I will be glued to my TV otherwise.

What the Hell!?

So, I know I haven't posted in a while ... was kinda busy with getting ready for two Epicure parties - my first two of the season - to post. And there's always the fact that I have gotten lazy! I really need to start getting off my ass!

Anyway ... I want to post about a couple of things.

1) The Nanny Diaries ... omg! funny and very touching at moments. But what movie isn't when it features a cutie 5 year old boy? He was adorable, as was Harvard Hottie (aka Johnny Storm of Fantastic Four aka Chris Evans), but in a much different way. And I have to say, Scarlett Johansson is much prettier with dark hair. She is much more striking. The blond hair makes her look very common. Also, if you haven't read the book ... I would actually suggest seeing the movie first. It's fairly close to the book, with a few minor changes, mainly at the beginning.

2) My GD VCR is broken! I went to tape Heroes last night and the damn thing won't turn on! It won't even pop the tape out that's currently in it. So now I am faced with the PVR/VCR dilemna. Do I buy a $50 VCR and get rid of my digital cable in order to tape all my fall season shows or do I invest the money into a $400 PVR that is digital, can tape two shows simutaneously while watching a third? It hurts to lay that much money out when it's something I may not be able to use a lot in the next few years ... and what if it becomes obsolete in that time? Any techie advice for me?

3) Fucking Squirrel Crossing! Yeah, you read that correctly. My mother's boyfriend thought it would be funny to send a tacky garden ornament down for my front garden. Mum put it in the garden and waited to see how long it took me to notice it. Let me tell you, it wasn't long! I went to my sister's that afternoon and noticed the ornament as soon as I pulled into my driveway. Damn thing.

4) I signed up for two Tuesday night cooking classes at the Northside Superstore - Oct 2nd for Passage to India and Oct 9th for Serengheti Nights. Would anyone like to join me?

And I guess that's it!
