Wow!

Wow!

This movie blew me away. Well, all of Michael Moore's movies do that. But this one was just amazing.

As most of you probably know, the documentary is about the deplorable health care in America. Particularly, the cutthroat, corrupt, deceitful, greedy HMO's and their unfortunate victims. And by victims, I not only mean the people who have policies that get screwed by these HMO's but also the people that they basically sentence to die because of their quest for the almighty dollar.

Michael Moore also travels to other countries to examine their healthcare systems. Of course, our wonderful country is one of them. For all our bitching about Medicare and the waits, etc ... we are still VERY fortunate. Moore scrutinised systems in countries such as Great Britain and France ... and get this ..... CUBA! CUBA, where the healthcare system is by far much more superior to that of the US. In fact, Cuba may be one of the poorest countries, but it has one of the best healthcare systems in the world.

Moore also examines the treatment that many 9/11 rescue workers are being subject to right now. And I don't mean medical treatment. In fact, it's just the opposite. It's the total and utter lack of treatment and support they are receiving that is the greatest problem. Not only does Moore examine the healthcare system, he takes a hard look at the pharmaceutical industry. I mention this because of one of the 9/11 rescue workers (that Moore talked to) who payed $120 for a puffer in NY then paid .40 cents for the same thing in Cuba. Sickening, isn't it? Gotta go see the movie to find out why.

He ends the documentary asking an important question: if a society is judged by how it treats its elderly and sick, what does this say about America?

Oh.

And P.S.

I am moving to Great Britain. It's that or France. But I've lost my French, so it looks like GB. And I won't need a Visa to move to GB.

Whatchya Doin'?

WOW!

My muscles are twingeing! Just got back from a walk around the middle school. It really isn't that long, 2 km, but at the clip I was walking, it certainly gave my legs a workout.

Of course, it showered the whole freakin time. It finally stopped when I got back to my street. Lovely. So I am damp. But it was nice in a way ... kept me cool. LOL!

So, I have a question for everybody doing the Biggest Loser. What are you doing for excercise this week?

Canada Day

This was pretty much the extent of my celebrations. It's not that I don't love my country or want to celebrate. I just don't want to do it alone.
This is an angel food strawberry shortcake. Even though it was just for me, I made it a little pretty for the holiday.
Anyway, Happy Canada Day everybody!
