Pics From Friday

View downtown.

The Empress Hotel

The Parliament Building

Inside the Parliament Building, second floor looking up.

Second floor Parliament Building, looking down.

Chinatown Entrance.

There was more, but I seriously have not patience for uploading pics to Blogger here. Normally I reduce the file size at home, but I don't want to add crap to Fred's computer ... so I have to do normal sized files... which with my camera means they are large.

Basically, we parked at a parking garage and walked around downtown ... went to LUSH and spent $40. Went to the Bay Center. Walked around the Parliament Building (inside) and the Empress Hotel. Then we walked through Chinatown and Market Square. Afterwards, we got the truck and drove up to Stampers! and shopped a bit. Then we drove to Langford and shopped at Scrapalicious. Came back and Fred was ready to be picked up at the Base.

We went to the Old Spaghetti Factory for supper tonight. It was delicious! Just amazing!

Anyway, that's it for me tonight ... very tired from all the walking so I think I will head to bed soon.

Random Things

Nicole, *seriously*, the flight is only 15 minutes from the time they lift off in Vancouver to the time they touch down in Victoria.

I am sitting here blogging while Anita makes breakfast. I am soooo lazy. I didn't help with lunch or supper yesterday either.

SOOOOO cannot wait to hit LUSH and the Stamping/Scrapbooking store Anita was telling me about. I am thinking that I will have to buy a second suitcase to bring everything back. Specially if I hit IKEA in Vancouver.

Did I mention that I am spending Thursday night in Vancouver with Susan? Hoping Anita can swing things so she can come too. Crossing my fingers!

This morning we went for a drive through Royal Roads University/Hatley Castle, then up to Metchosin, then the lagoon. We had the kids(professional day) so there was no stopping, for now ... we plan to go back to Hatley Castle when the kidlets aren't with us. At the lagoon, on the other side of the road, it was bird city. You would think I have never seen a bird in my life... specially ducks and swans?! But it was the sheer number of them that I couldn't get over.

Then, this afternoon, we went to Beacon Hill Park, to see the baby goats. They were adorable. Once I finally got to see them. Unfortunately, before I could do that, I was accosted by some Chinese woman who wouldn't stop talking to me about the "Holy Mother", all the while her little munchkin was running around without supervision.

I saw the largest Rhododendron in my life at Beacon Hill! It was gigantic! A beautiful magnolia.
And that's all the patience that I have for uploading pictures to Blogger because it soooooooooo sloooooooooooow!
Tomorrow, we are going downtown. We're going to park and hoof it around. Going to go shopping at LUSH! Woohoo! Then the stamping store. Then I am on the lookout for a plus size lingerie store ... I desparately need a new bra ... and maybe a black one for the girls night out in May ... really don't want my white sports bra showing over the edge of my boob top. Wish me luck! Maybe if I have a little more patience tomorrow, I will upload more pics.

Hello from Victoria!

Flights, really not bad. Ok, so the seats on the F'ton/TO were a little squishy but not bad. Flight from TO to Vancouver was awesome! I was little worried about the toilets ... I worried that I would I wouldn't fit in, that I would lock myself in and not be able to get out, that seat would be too small, etc... See where I am going? But all was fine! Now the puddle jumper from Vancouver to Victoria was quite squishy! But it only lasted 15 minutes so I can't complain.

Anita drives like a crazy Victorian already and only a year here! This place is HUGE but beautiful!

I will post more later ... after we pick up the kidlets!

Leaving On A Jet Plane ....

Yup, I'm ready!

My bags are packed! I'm ready to goooooooo.... And guess what? I'm travelling light! I have one suitcase and a carry on! Who'd have thought I would travel light?

I just have to get up at the ungodly hour of 4:30AM, get my ass dressed and drive out to the airport.

It's still all so unreal ... it won't really sink in until I wedge my butt into a seat on the tin can with wings.

I will post here and on Facebook while I am away .... and of course, I will be on msn Thursday night for Grey's Anatomy. (Anita thinks she can get it at 6pm out there.)

Talk to you all later!

It's All Gone

My hair, that is. I booked an appointment two weeks ago for this ... I've been back and forth about what I want to do ... just get it trimmed or cut it all off. It's kinda in between.
It took an hour! Of course, anyone who gets their hair done at Avalon knows what a treat it is. And my hairstylist was amazing. She explained at every step what each product was and what it was for.
The head massage ... when she massaged my temples and upper cheekbones, I could feel all the muscles in my face just slide down, relaxing. Then she massaged behind my ears and I wondered if I was going to start thumping my foot. She "detoxed" my hair, then washed and conditioned it .... Then she cut it ... I left half my hair on the salon floor.
It took her almost 30 minutes to style my hair. I can assure you it will not take me that long. Seriously, my head is a walking advert for Aveda products. She used leave-in conditioner, then a honey mousse, then a volume tonic (on the crown of my head), then a smoothing lotion (I already had that), then a powder on the roots of my hair at the crown because they kept parting (apparently that's bad), then a hairspray.
The damn powder alone costs $32.95! In a bottle smaller than the Making Memories paint! I was like - thanks, but no. I already have the smoothing lotion, so I bought the honey mousse and some shampoo. I'm good for a while. If my hair requires more than that, it can suffer without.
